Theme Description: After election season, but in the midst of the holiday and flu seasons, let’s share stories about the joys, sorrows, possibilities, and challenges of coming together. Recount your real life tale of the amazing feat that you accomplished with a small group of thoughtful, committed denizens, or tell us how coming together sparked a decade-long feud. Tell us about the family tradition that makes you feel deep belonging or profound alienation. Share the story about how, “like thousands of others, [you] survived the storm and the many dark days that followed because of the kindness of strangers”* or how a crowd of anonymous internet trolls threatened your safety when you got doxed. What happened when a virus passed through your kids’ preschool, your workplace, or the world? What happened when you realized that despite the messiness of humans, we do indeed still belong to one another? Let’s join with each other to share stories and uncover what makes us better (or worse) together.
*Vivek Murthy, Together
Story Circles include 6-8 people who gather and share stories on a common theme from their own lives. Collectively, the group explores what can be learned from the stories together that would be harder to understand from any particular story alone.
